Excited
doesn't begin to describe Janice when she finally had the chance to meet John
Kovalic, author/illistrator of Dork Tower.. Janice had been looking forward to
meeting him for some time. She found the character Gilly, (one of the wonderful
characters from Dork Tower,) reminding her of herself time and time again...
After my own shift was over at the badge booth I went over to the Dork Storm
booth and found John, asking him to join me in a stroll over to the booth so
that I could surprise Janice by returning with him in tow. Not only did he
escort me back, but he was elated to do so. (Of coarse, that after autographing
a copy of the comic for yours truly!).. John is a great guy who adores his fans
as much as they adore him.. John, it was GREAT meeting you!! Stay sweet!!

My Buds!!!
.. I can honestly say these are a great, down to earth group of guys! We first
met them in Ohio at the 2000 Origins convention at their demo of the card game
version of Mystik. I had a blast playing against them and don't think Eric's
forgiven me yet for beating him!! In fact, he made it a point to whoop me pretty
good at GAMA this year just to get even and reclaim his Mastery title of the
game!! It's always a pleasure to spend time with these guys and I'm honored to
say that they're letting me Play Test the RPG version of Mystik!!
Guys.. It was great seeing you again and I can't wait for GAMA 2002!!
Keep up the amazing work! This game's going far!!!
It's been
nearly 18 years since the first time I picked up an Dragonlance novel. And let
me tell you, 18 years is a LONG time to be addicted to a single Saga! But alas,
like so many others, I'm hooked.. So, needless to say, when I wrote Margaret
Weis the first E-mail I'd ever sent her, (Top pic and above on the left), I was
more then speachless when she wrote back! I'll never forget how long I must have
sat there stairing at the E-mail she'd sent.. From there, we were in touch via a
few E-Mails back and forth.. There in, I learned she would be here in Vegas for
Gama, and I grew very anxious.. She'd said she was looking forward to meeting me
at GAMA and I was just floored!!!.. On Tuesday, the second day into convention,
I came in a little late. (Thank you Mark for being so understanding about
that!!) When I walked up to the badge bar I overheard someone spelling the name
"Hickman" to my friend working at my side.
My eyes must have been as wide and set as a dear's in headlights.. Just then,
Margaret walked up to the booth and looked at me for no more then a moment
before saying.. "Rachelle?".. From there, once I got over my awe
struck silence, I got to know her. Not Margaret the Writter, but Margaret the
woman. And an amazing woman she is. I've been asked a few times what she's like.
The only way I can describe her is, when we met, it was more like meeting an old
friend, or even someone's mom, then it was meeting a celebrity. She's just
amazing, and truly one of the most down to earth people I've ever met...
Tracy was late getting to Con, but finally made it.. Thursday I believe
it was.. I will never forget.. I was sitting at the door of the main Convention
Hall that morning making sure everyone going in had their badges.. Maybe an hour
or so into my shift, Margaret came over dragging poor Tracy along behind her..
" I found him!" she announced.. and I felt like I was going to fall
off my chair! After a simi-formal handshake I ended up giving Tracy a great big
hug! What a guy!!!.. Since, I've been in E-Mail contact with both, and Tracy has
suggested that the Tower of Brelyan, Knights of Takhisis, Dragonarmy of Takhisis,
and those involved in RP with us contact the Whitestone Council to have our
campaign placed on their map!
Margaret, I won't mention 'what' I'm speaking of, but thank you
again for the 'gift'.. It was amazing, and far more then I could have ever
wished for!!!
Margaret and Tracy have signed autographs for all of Rhydin,
however since I didn't have a scanner ava. to me at the time I sent them on to a
friend who's own scanner is now down.. As soon as they can be scanned and sent
to me, I'll have them up for everyone to enjoy!!
