Q.
What is the chain of Command within the Tower of Brelyan?
In the Tower of Brelyan the Masters of the Orders are fully and solely in charge
of their own Order. They make the decisions on the rank (or level) of each
member, are there to council members, aid in study, and anything else they can
do to further the Arts. Should any member of the Tower wish to change their
robes, have a situation with another member of Brelyan, or otherwise, it is
their Master they should speak to. If they are not readily available, then they
should send a missive via scroll to their Master.
Black Order ~ Master Vodalian (Vodalianxx)
Red Order ~ Master Drakos (Darlanostrus)
White Order ~ Master Cililath, the Merciful (Cililath))
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mistress Mist oversees the Tower but does not interfere with the flow of events
within any
of the Orders. Despite the fact that she is the most studied Magus in the Tower,
she has
refused the position as Master of her Order, and will not seek it. She chooses
to remain a
Blackmage to help assure her fairness and to insure she remains impartial.
She reserves the right to remove any member from Brelyan should they act in such
a manor that deserves such consequences. Such a drastic measure is a last and
final resort.
Depending on the act, she would, if applicable, seek to have the member's Master
deal with the situation before stepping in. (Some acts can and will be met with
immediate punitive consequences. Attempted murder on one in the Tower, on
neutral grounds, for example, would be cause for immediate removal)
Q.
What do the Masters look for when considering an applicant?
A.1.~. The application is OOC (Out Of Character) and is looking for several
things..
1) Quality of Writing
2) How much knowledge of the Dragonlance Realm the petitioner possesses.
3) That the character is a 'realistic' character.
Things we don't want to see in applications:
1) A character that is a mix of races that cannot procreate together.
(E.g. Dragon and elf.. Draconian and Kender, etc.)
2) Power Characters.. All characters should have the limitations, abilities, and
faults of his or her race. We will not accept God / Demi-God characters,
Prewritten characters (They must be origional characters), claims to be the
"strongest Magus ever having lived), or any other character who is not
bound by the same limitations as are all. Yes, your character can have
advantages, but must as well, have disadvantages to make him or her realistic.
A.2.~ During the interviews (which are IC) we are looking primarily for three
things;
1) Mature, Quality RP
2) Mindset of the Character
3) Belief system and dedication of the Character.
Q.
Can kenders be mages?
A.
Yes and no. It really depends on the time frame that you are adventuring in.
According to the new SAGA rules of the fifth age kender do have the possibility
of being mages. But these rules have been created only for the fifth age. At any
other time or place kender are not allowed to be mages. Of course you will
always find a DM that will allow an exception to the rule. Kender have almost
all the same physical characteristics as halflings and halfings can not be
mages. It has also been explained that the magic of the Greygem, which created
them, also prevents them from becoming mages. So unless you are playing in the
fifth age that kender can not be a mage.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here at Brelyan we apply 2nd Edition Dungeons and Dragons rules to our RP. We
are a 'pre-5th age' campaign and as such can't permit Kender to practice the
Arts of Magic. It was not until the 5th age that Kender were granted the ability
to use Magic, the Gods having left Krynn.
I apologize to the Kender Players who would seek to join our Tower, but we must
be true to our timeline
